NY Works: Neighborhood Rebuilding Corps is being funded by a $16 million grant from the US Department of Labor to the NYS Department of Labor to hire workers to assist in the cleanup of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. This grant provides funding for temporary employment in cleanup and restoration efforts, and may include work on projects that provide food, clothing, shelter, and other humanitarian assistance at public and not-for-profit organizations. Go to www.labor.ny.gov/careerservices/disaster-neg.shtm to fill out a preliminary registration form.
Individuals without access to a computer can apply for the NY Works: Neighborhood Rebuilding Corps by phone. Telephone inquiries can be directed to (888) 4-NYSDOL (888-469-7365) or (518) 457-9000.
