Preparing Volunteers for the Next Emergency
Two 8-hour training courses are scheduled for the coming weeks for people wishing to be volunteer first responders for natural disasters. The courses are sponsored by the NY Annual Conference of the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission “to make sure volunteers are prepared for the tasks they will encounter and that they can work safely and harmoniously, and to be able to assure homeowners and other disaster survivors that the workers are responsible and trustworthy.”
The classes will be held Oct. 8 at St. James UM Church, Kingston, and Nov. 12 at Kaaterskill UM Church in Tannersville. For information, contact Rev. James Moore, superintendent of the Catskill-Hudson District of the UMC, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
