The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Discovery Lodge, Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, Highmount will close at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.
Until then, representatives of FEMA, the NYS Department of Labor, the Small Business Agency and the NYS Office of Temporary Disability Assistance will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to help those affected by flooding. The DRC at the Ulster Business Resource Center, 601 Ulster Avenue, Kingston 12401will remain open.
Agency representatives at the Belleayre DRC have seen more than 500 people in the past month, according to Virginia Marquez, DRC manager. The lodge was originally used as an evacuation center, and then as a food bank and clothing distribution site. Food, clothing and showers are no longer available.
“We keep our disaster recovery centers open until we feel they are no longer critical in a given area,” said Federal Coordinating Officer Philip E. Parr. Representatives who have worked at Belleayre will now be deployed in other disaster zones.
