Delaware County DPW chief Wayne Reynolds says bids for a new bridge to replace the Arthur White bridge in Dry Brook are expected to be awarded September 30, with construction to begin no later than October 11. A 60-day work schedule (6 days a week) means the bridge will hopefully be open to emergency vehicles December 21, and completed by January 14, 2012. Of interest to Denver residents, the County Route 8 bridge (Scudder Hill Road) just off Denver-Vega Road will not be rebuilt until spring. The bridge, which carries traffic to Roxbury Run Village, was washed out by the Batavia Kill. A detour over Walker and John Shultis Roads will remain in effect until the new span is built.
