Food Stamps available to disaster victims

Applications for the Disaster Food Stamp Benefit Program will be available for seven days only, beginning Thursday, Sept. 22.

You must go in person to file for this assistance:

Delaware County Department of Social Services offices,
111 Main St., Delhi, 13753
between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
(DSS no longer has a staff person at the Belleayre Flood Recovery Center.)

Appointments are not necessary. If you do not have transportation, arrangements may be made for a case worker to come to you. Call Barbara Leo at DSS, 607-832-5300.

Those affected by flooding may be eligible for this help, even if they do not currently receive Food Stamps. (Current Food Stamp recipients must call their case worker if help is needed.) A household approved for Disaster Food Stamp benefits will receive one-month’s worth of the maximum benefit allowed for the household size.
