The wonderful sound of students’ voices echoed in the halls of Margaretville Central School today, reports Tony Albanese, Superintendent. As you are aware, this was the first day back to school since Irene abruptly took control of our surrounding area. There were a lot of smiles and hugs as students and Teachers re-united. All the students began their day in their first period class to acclimate themselves to their school schedules.
Period three brought together the entire school community from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 in an assembly never seen before at MCS. Under the guidance of Mrs. Claudia McMurray and a group of Teachers/Staff and Administrators known as “Spreadjoy” the students were told of the true joy in having each of them back to school. “You are safe and we will have all the supplies you need to have a great school year thanks to our friends and volunteers” explained Mrs. McMurray.
After some words of encouragement and support from Ms. Taylor (Principal) the assembly broke out into a fun filled dance in the middle of the school gym. This excitement was the culmination of the joy and positive energy all in attendance (children and adults) generated making MCS such a special place. Mr. Albanese concluded the assembly with a commitment to all the students and especially the Senior Graduating Class of 2012 that this would be a great year for all!
