Post Office Information

Maureen Marion, manager of the Northeast NY area for the US Postal Service, provided the following information on postal operations as of 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5:

“The Margaretville PO is operational. It suffered some flood damage to lower boxes; wet mail has been placed in individual plastic bags for customer pickup. Facility cleanup is going on. (Ed:  Last week there was no counter service; it is not clear whether that limitation will continue this week.) There was no damage to Arkville, Halcottsville, New Kingston, Fleischmanns or Roxbury; normal operations are in place. Rural delivery is being made from all offices except where road closures or curbside boxes are down. Typically, we have mail pick at an alternate location for those who cannot get to their mailboxes OR the mail is held at the post offices; if it is just the mailbox that is inaccessible and the PO is open, you can go there.”
